I had an aborted start when my seatpost bolt stripped its thread after about a mile and I had to ride the bike home again to dig another one out of the biscuit tin in the garage. This is around two thirds of the way in, the Palace Pier is in the distance. About a mile to go, this time the wreck of the West Pier is visible behind. Finally arrived, and parked up with part of BB's collection of bikes. Throughout the day literally hundreds of folk looked over the bikes and some (usually the really weird ones but some really nice folk, too, including Mushroom and family) stuck around to chat. BB's chopper got the most attention, which probably tells you more about the average age of bikers there! The place was literally teeming with motorbikes and people as far as the eye could see, both ways from where BB had set up stall. I went to catch some of the bands and get some drinks and it took me half an hour to walk 200 yards, one because of the amount of people there and secondly because I seemingly met up with people I knew, every few steps. I did run into some of a bike club I know who were tremendously amused that I'd ridden down on a Grifter rather than my GSX......till one their Missus's revealed that they'd not only stopped to eyeball the Raleighs but had gone all misty-eyed over BB's Chopper and Grifters. BB has many more photos than me by virtue of me being a rather awful photographer, plus he was there longer than me, and all the photo opportunities came up when I was enaged in conversation with somebody! Above and beyond all the expensive and inventive custom bikes there, my favourite bike was this GSXR, simply because it was painted in Barry Sheene's old GP bike colours. It even has a Brut 33 sticker!!!! Class! The ride home was very wet and with the wind firmly in my face all the way, it was hard going too. Pretty good to get around 15 miles Grifting under the 29 year old redlines, though. ;D

the one pic I took sorry to Brett and Ged, we ended up walking along the middle section deck back because we were fed up with fighting against the throngs of people coming the opposite way. Was great to see you two and the admiring glances the bikes got (except for the nutter that kept fiddling with the bikes and shifting the gears while standing there) I hope you got your spare room back Brett We should have given you a lift back Ged we couldn't feel the wind in the bus

Thanks for the kind comments, folks. Dave no worries the ride was really fun, and thanks for the pic. Nice to know my hair isn't thinning on top, even though it is mostly grey!
