Well as i suspected , the chrome is by and large too far gone to show a real difference , although the seat clamp has come up really shiny due in most part for being protecred by the seat all it life . Hey ho im going to have a crack at the chain ring next and fit the mk1 pedals that i have

chain ring , done , albeit not as shiny as i would have liked , but its now rust free, and stored in the shed along with the rest of the bike.
It proved to be a bit of a pig in all honesty, it has tiny burs all over it that cut your brillo to bits not to mention your fingers !

And stop , the next stage was going to be to have a good look at the sissy bar , springs , cups ect , but the sissy bar refused to be moved , i tried and tried , hit it with a hammer , oiled it and sought some advice but its all to no avail , its stuck fast and so i may have to resort to cutting out my sissy bar. Also the bottom cups are welded to the frame for some bizarre reason , so these are going to have to be cut free at some stage.
I have found what o believe is the frame number , its a set of digits on the rear wheel drop outs , is this where it should be ?

Ok i have decided to bite the bullet and get this done properly , im giving the frame to rog to have it done right , it is now stripped and ready to go to billing to begin its journey to its former glory. And i have taken some photos of the work so far but my contact has not posted them up yet . I did however get really excited that my brake lever chrome came up really well and was very shiney , but when i put them both together for a photo i found to my horror that it was infact a tommy lever

And time to add the next installment of the chopper rebuild , i went over to collect the frame today from roger and it look the dogs doodads . It has been sand blasted to remove many layers of paint and rust from the frame and forks, then it was altered to remove any uneven rear forks so the wheel will sit correctly, then once that was done the sissy bar had to be removed via a saw as it was stuch fast then the frame was powder coated in her original orange colour. I was chuffed to bits when i saw the frame this morning . Sadly i cant post pictures up as i have no photobuckets account but im happy to send photos via multimedia if anyone could post them up . The forks are not quite done , they are waiting for colour , after being sand blasted, and these should be picked up by the end of the week . The next thing is to begin refitting the chrome stuff as much as i can .So in the meantime

ok i have renewed my photobucket account so should be able to post piccies up , but the bikeis in hertfordshire and im typing this with my camera in front of me in Hampshire so hang in there. Anyway , i have sourced a mk1 rear guard today as well as a set of nice bars for her , i know that it will take time but if the frame looks lovely then its only fair that the rest of the bike does not let it down.
A sissy bar and seat left to get and she will be complete and on her way to her former glory.

The rebuild began last night, i replaced the shiny chrome on the shiny orange frame , the seat clamp was reset , the headset cups were put in , the rear wheel was put back on , and i added a nos mk1 gear shift panel wich looks the dogs twitcher , the cable was threaded through the frame and the pedal spindle was reset along with washed and re oiled bearings. Thats about as far as i can get until i get my forks back from the powder coater then i will refit the front wheel then everything i have left to fit .

As i have been so busy at work (asleep) , i dont need kip when i get home , so i have today been into Raleighshack stores and have come away with an old heron headbadge , rear brake caliper assembly with rainchecks , a heron lamp holder, gear chain toggle , gear fulcrum nut, pinch bolt for gear cable , nice shiny brake levers, a headnut and a sturmey archer cable clip . This should see the old girl up and together albeit not rideable as no seat and no sissy bar assembly ...as of yet
