nice, always wanted a purple one Did you see the MK2 frame and bits on the marina car boot on sunday ? Loads of burn marks around the welds, I walked away and bought a chrome BMX for a tenner ( just for the tektro front brake for another bike )

That's the one. I made a bid on the ebay auction and nobody else did so I won it for the starting price. I'm up near Sheffield for a mate's milestone birthday celebrations in October so I'm collecting it then, and it's sat in ther spare bedroom until I do. TBH I have enough to keep me busy till then anyway.

Picked up the Chopper yesterday and got it home today. (BTW it is purple, it's just my camera seems to have made it blue!) Mixture of good and bad, just as I expected. The paintwork is pretty ropey but I'm not too bothered about that. Rims look salvageable, tyres, tubes and all cables need replacing. The brake cables have non-ribbed outers sio I have assumed that they are non-original plus the front one seems short and the rear one wrongly routed. The seat post and backrest freed off easily, which was one of my worries. It will get stripped down, cleaned, all bearings regreased and /or replaced as it's built back up. It's intended to be a riding chopper for me so I'm not THAT bothered about it being totally original or authentic but I would appreciate any comments on the photos here as to what's wrong with it, in case I've missed something. Cheers! Levers didn't have black sleeves originally did they? Addition of a chewed up nut is to stop the outer cable slipping into the hole on the lever! Can you buy replacement stickers for the gear console? I'm undecided whether to buy a replacement seat cover or patch this one like my Gran did when I tore my first one back in t'70s ;D New toggle chain required. Is there a certain one for mk2 Choppers? Salvageable rim. Brake wasn't lined up with the rim! Looks like mice have eaten the tyre, but the tube still held air. Missing sticker. I'll pick one up on ebay. Wrongly routed rear brake cable. That chainguard should have stripes I reckon, right? I could be wrong but that stem kink does not look natural! Bit rusty and worn but I will use that rear rim. New redlines and tubes are on the list for ordering. Any pointers as to the best sellers would be appreciated. Failing that I have a Raleigh Cycle Centre less than quarter of a mile away. ;D Chrome on the 'guards ain't bad at all. Needs a bit of spit & polish though.

Nice, I wouldn't bother with the raleigh centre, I went there for a budgie inner tube and he told me they didn't do an 11" tube. I asked him to look in the catalogue and when he found it he told me it would take 2 weeks to get here
