I'm new on here and wondered if you could help - I have just acuired my mum's Raleigh Hercules Commuter and wondered if it was worth doing it up to sell on - or otherwise.
It has a 3 speed SA hub which works fine, the saddle isn't original and the chrome work is rusty and pitted - will need re-chroming etc.
Is it worth the £ and effort?
Thank you in advance!
Rich!

To be honest a near mint original example will fetch £80-£100 on a good day, so the rechroming alone would outweigh this. :-(

The obscure models are never worth a lot which is a shame as some are quite nice, but they can be the basis for a good custom, I have a rusty black Tomos Luxus from about 1975, I painted the rims red and gave it white tyres to create a nice rat rod bike.
I also crashed a Peugeot racer quite badly, and I am going to put the mechanical parts onto the frame of a 78 MK2 Chopper to create an unofficial MK2 sprint GT freak of nature machine 8)
