I've got quite a few mates over there, I'll ask them to keep an eye out for them. Those forks look a different shade of red to the frame

They are but original to the frame. This is the only red one along with 3 blue ones know about, but there must be a few more knocking around in deepest Ireland. It would be good if your mates could unearth a few more.

Lovley bike andy, i believe the numbers stamped on the frame are property marks as (like you said) the irish has no frame numbers. The other irish bikes i have seen all had normal spoke protectors so we can never be sure that the huret ones original. I see its another 79 mk1 which is the same as the others. Very nice bike mate and the only red one ive seen.

The seller told me he had a few offers of £200 but no one had stumped up any cash. He said that if i wedged him up with a few dollars for a deposit the bike was mine.
