A race to (almost) The Death, The Clunker Classic takes place in Porlock North Somerset on the first Saturday of July every year. The trail we ride consists of four distinct section, Moorland, Forest, Fire road, and Tarmac, the decent is roughly 1500 ft over three miles from Exmoor to near as damn it sea level.
As far as I can ascertain, only having done it six times, there are three rules which must be adhered to.
NO Mountain Bikes.
Be Drunk.
Bring something for the prize fund.
So, if you fancy ragging inappropriate bicycles down fairly gnarly single track, come on down, the race starts in the Ship Inn at Twelve noon, camping facilities are excellent in the form of Sparkhayes camp site, slap bang in the middle of Porlock, it's a cracking weekend with a bunch of cracking people, I highly recommend it, especially as this year is the tenth year of the race.
None of this is arranged by anyone, if you come and crash......it's your own stupid fault, and there in lies the fun.
see you in The Ship Inn, Noon on the 2nd of July.
