Just dug this out (literally !!) from the back end of my shed after at least nine years. Time this beast was rolling the streets again. Yes, that is the original saddle on the floor, the saddle frame on the bike was to protect the seat post from damage. The original saddle is the Dunlop B-68 you see in the pic above and here is a close-up of the side logo. Most parts are there, but just needs a few parts like: BB axle, Bearings, l/h bearing cup & lockring, cotterpins, new tyres and tubes, handlebar grips new brake pads, rear brake return spring, chain, new pedals and most importantly, a fresh coat of Post office red of course.

Slowly slowly catchy monkey...
Frame is off to be coated soon, then its rebuild time again and setting up the brakesd again..........oh well, there is always SOMEthing that niggles you in a restoration.

Hi there! I found a Raleigh bike with rod brakes that has GPO stamped on the handlebars and bell. The man I bought it from says he was riding it during the war, and it has a war front lamp (angled at the ground). The seat also has a pin curl on the front, dating it as pre-WW2 (I believe?). The Raleigh stamp says "The Raleigh, Nottingham, England" with the usual heron emblem. I have also found a Raleigh emblem on the right front fork. I have no idea how old it really is, and am struggling to find a serial number. I also don't know whether to restore it (I believe it was painted black during the war) or leave it as it is. It is also a single speed, which has confused me as I thought there were three speeds before the war? The chain and rings are also totally encased. Any information or pointers would be appreciated! (I don't know how to insert an image :/, but I'll happily email you one if that would help!)
