Right, bought this for a project ... Ive been using it on and off for the last few days and its been great. Appart from having to fix somthing else before each ride haha... Ive decided rather than restore it, Im leaving it as it is. Rough. But all the small pieces like brake cables. The SA cable, and the chain and sprocket will be replaced in order to keep it riding well... I dont think a 23 year old guy in a beanie hat can get away with riding a full fendered rsw So im stickin to my ratty lil wonder here Given up on the dynamo as it just doesnt work. Ive removed the front mudguard , as the rear wasnt existant and one just looked wierd... Ive now also got a new 3 speed cable on the way as the one on it is snapped and is pinchbolted together so needs renewing.... Just gonna go out now and replace the rear tyre as the original has decided to split appart haha... Anyone know where to get new drumbrake parts for the rear hub?

Some updated pics after me messing with it last night.... Replaced the huge front light with a smaller one, Was rusty as hell so sprayed it rough black so its in keeping with the rest of the bike. Also fitted an old sturmey archer rear light in between the frame rather than on the side... All of the lights will be powered off a battery located somewhere. Rather than the dynamo.. Only due to the fact its inoperative.

This has changed a bit... Also got some silly miles on it now... Looking at getting a mileometer.... Everything consistantly works now. I had some issues with the gear lever/grip jamming, And once that was sorted the rear hub jammed into 3rd and then once id got the gears back again, Decided it didnt want to know the togglechain anymore and told it to feck off Brookes saddle fitted. Since that its all been good tho.. Bought another bike so i can fit a mk1 rsw centrepull brake to the rear. and get rid of the hopeless drumbrake... And fitted some Koolstop SUPRA 2 pads to the front, On an altenburger alloy caliper to get rid of some of that raleigh flex and hopefully give me some brakes... Ill be fitting some to the rear soon too. But im going to rebuild the hub first, as at the moment it leaks oil onto the rim.... The previous owner i think filled it right up with 3 in 1 rather than just a few drops... and its still squirting it out... Not very good for new pads...

I think there cracking bikes, i have an rsw mk2 which i will be building back up in the winter as a rider. Thats exactly what i built this up for.... Although im thinking i might put a compe3 style tyre up front just for a bit of added traction... Im finding it doesnt grip very well on wet tarmac.. It tends to stamp its way round corners Fun but not great in the middle of town.... That said, My "proper" Daily bike is a Raleigh Pioneer (original one) with wide 700c's on , and im riding the rsw more as its more of an occasion haha...

HAHA well ive managed to break it... The sprocket was allready a bit worn which causes some chain suck now and then.., But the otherday while bombing back from asdas, Probably a bit too fast for the poor old thing , I changed from 3rd to second and it made a clunk.. I thought not much of it, And pedalled a bit more. It then decided to chainsuck and at that point i realised the clunk was the Hub seizing up some how... So once it stopped itself haha, I rocked it back and the chain came unstuck and i rode it home al -a - fixie... Went straight in the shed and ive ordered and(now recieved) a new sprocket and chain... Im going to be fitting a fm guts in a known good aw shell on my lenton so ill swap the good aw guts into the RSW aw shell just to be sure its all good....
