Right here goes a thread that will hopefully list most of the mk1 differences 1968-1971.pm me if you have any usefull info or piccies. Front mudguard... tall frame 68/69 choppers have a single tab and all the rest of mk1s and mk2s had the twin tab style. chainguards... tall frame 68/69 had the chainguard with a shallow curve all the other mk1s had the normal type.all had the little bracket at the front and a return at the front edge. blue one is signed by Alan oakley.we will come to decals later on,ones on the bottom are repro-soon to be replaced. brake blocks and stays... all front brake blocks are the same some had the rubbers slash cut at the rear, both front and rear blocks could be slid out at rear, brake stays=the long one is a cable through frame 68 only and the other a normal mk1 rear, somtimes these are rubber coated on the outer half to protect the frame paint. gear change frame mountings... first pic is a 68 or 69 tall frame, note how the rear tab is straight and doesnt drop down like the one below which is a normal mk1 ,this angles the shifter base, with the later 123 window design shifter they must have dropped the rear down to allow for clearance of the slider mechanism.also on the tallframe 68/69 the front mounting is wider.front of bike is to the left in both pics info to follow on this one THE SHIFTERS... tallframe 3 speed awt tallframe 3+2 five speed normal mk1 awt mk1 5 speed late mk1 5 speed deraileur model early 10 speed mk1 on the far right is the later pattern foil and on the left a mk2 shifter. stands...... basically two sorts early short housing and later ones have longer housing
