Just been stripping the Mk1 Grifter
The front forks have triangles near the top (back edge)- i've been told these were from 1976 models is that right??
The front wheel had a super MX tyre fitted to it and also has STURMEY ARCHER ENGLAND stamped on the axle and again on the rim with the serial number FA 16020 - Is this again from the early models??
The frame number and hub number both say 1978 (July and May)
Any more info would be appreciated.

Yes mate the forks are from the pre march 77 models, the super mx tyres are replacements of the day (and on the may pre pros) the wheels would be original to the bike (the hub date would normally of been the same or after the frame date to be factory fitted) but raleigh did some funny things with swapping/using up parts from the stores. ;D

I think there worth at least £30 for the early ones with the trangles on. With the wheels it all depends on condition. If you cleaned them up with some 00 grade wire wool and wd40/chrome cleaner you would get more. Your talking £15 upwards for a nice wheel (postage is around £8 for a wheel and about £6 for the forks at the post office) a courier would be cheaper if your posting a whole bike or large parts together.
