Nice. Was this related to the black and green Raleigh Roadrunner at all? They look pretty similar. Same theme but different sizes perhaps... rather attractive yet 'gay' Raleigh Roadrunner

Much better with a little perspective. It's something that's popped up in my head for years. Back in about 1981 I was 11 and knew all about the Boxer, Strika, Grifter range and the earlier Budgie, Tomahawk, Chopper range. Like small, medium and large versions of the same theme... Well one day the local kids all got their bikes out and one kid was very reluctant but eventually brought his outdated Roadrunner out. No-one slagged him off from what I remember and I was quite taken by it but I think he thought I was patronising him and I never saw it again. Now, I don't think the shops still sold those type of bikes at that time but, iirc, seeing the Roadrunner made me notice similar bikes and I thought perhaps Raleigh had done the small/med/big thing before. Fast forward 30 years or so and I started Googling Raleigh Roadrunner and Gresham Flyer (not sure where I got that from) and I found the Gresham but nothing on the Roadrunner although I remembered the colour and everything. I even posted online about it but no-one remembered then a year and a half or so ago this pic appeared. It is a beautiful bike imo. Turns out the Gresham Flyer is an older bike but of similar style and not technically a Raleigh so I thought I'd maybe imagined the whole Roadrunner 'family' thing. Now, seeing the Rodeo I'm not so sure..... Gresham Flyer. 'older cousin once-removed' of the Raleigh Roadrunner?
