Can't say it's a hobby, more of a necessity We get our oil for free, we pay for our methanol and caustic, plus electricity on top of that Works out around 20p a litre and we make 100 litres at a time. Whole process takes around 18 - 20 hours Shed was free and we got a Raleigh Twenty given to say thanks for taking it water butt on the left holds water for the condensor oil tank on the left, processor in the middle ( hot water tank upside down, with short element in biodiesel settling tank on the right, with methanol/caustic soda container on top. we house the methanol and caustic in a locked shed on the other side of the garden. Shed was another freebie, found most of it in a skip. We built it ourselves based on Graham Laming's design but tweaked it for our own needs. Total cost of bits was £250 - £300 mainly for valves and pipes We used Graham Laming's site www.graham-laming.com/bd/main.htmand Vegetable Oil Diesel forum for all our info www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum/index.php

I've seen this at Dave's (mushroom) house.
It's pretty awesome, making fuel from old oil from the chippy! ;D
I was suitably impressed!
