Is it the same length as chopper ones ? I've seen 2 different lengths on ebay

dont make much difference mate, the hubs are the same sizes on both bikes

Maybe a bit late for this reply but it's to do with the fact that the 3 speed (AW) hubs had 2 different axle lengths. The 5&3/4" HSA107 and the 6&1/4" HSA108. Have a lookat Pg 16 of this Sturmey Archer catalogue www.sturmey-archerheritage.com/files/view-129.pdfThe list shows that corresponding gear indicators were available HSA125 & HSA126 and the axle lengths are also given in metric: 146/159 which is a difference of 13mm. The difference in the lenghts of the chains is 6mm which is approx half of 13mm so I'm guessing the axles were about 6mm longer on each side hence the need for a 6mm longer gearchange chain
