if you could please, i've tried half a dozen places and they say bike wheels are too small for them to polish properly, my local platers is newquay and he wants almost £100 a rim, or is that reasonable

I've always heard that its expensive. Maybe cheaper to find some good condition originals. Can Carling help you?

Hi I have a good chrome plater- based in Hampshire, I can send you the contact details if you want them, they did all the chrome on the Phillips bike which can be viewed in the other classic bikes thread if you want a look.

Sure- Silvabronz & Kingsley Chrome 19b, Caker Stream Rd, Alton, Hampshire GU34 2QF Tel: 01420 80880
I was pleased with the work they did- but it cost a fair bit, took about 4 weeks to do the job.

I use two places. Willow Chrome in St Helens Merseyside and Aqua chrome in Preston Lancs. They rechromed my Grifter rims for £25 each.

called both places supergrip but both said they don't do bicycle parts.got a price from castle chrome of £35 a rim, with the time spent cleaning up a wheel then keeping the rust away i'd rather put a couple extra hours in at work and save the effort plus have what should be a better finish. being self employed i weigh everything up on time, a weekend spent cleaning or an extra days work and great chrome.
