Ive got loads of bikes in my garage. The garage is the complete ground floor of my house. Go up the stairs to the rooms in the house. Anyway. I have seen holes in the ground around the edges of the walls. The ground is earth. I filled in the holes. But this week Ive seen damage to my bikes. The grips on my Gold bike, a Raleigh Phaser, were eaten away. The computer buttons too. My dual suspension Optima has eaten grips too, including the grip shift grip. The ends of the Mikro bike, Townsend and the Bratz are eaten. But the Raleigh Caprice has white hard plastic grips and wasnt affected. I put the Phaser, Mikro, Optima, Townsend and Caprice outside to wash anything off them in the rain. I put the Bratz and a Shogun near where they were in the garage last night. I looked at them today and the Shogun had signs of bite marks. So put it across the garage, beside my Marin and Raleigh Flyer. I got some rat poison from Tescos today. Put it down where the bikes were parked. Im thinking of putting a few bikes in my loft. But its only a small hole to go through to get up there. Dad had a few old bikes up there. And I have managed to get down complete bikes. Was difficult though. I dont have pics of the damaged bikes. But heres some pics of the bikes before that. Gold bike. 1970s Raleigh Phaser, modded into a MTB Mikro bike, with Raleigh bars. Bratz lowrider. Raleigh Caprice. Wasnt damaged. But was in the bunch with the other bikes

My cat. WD40. Doesnt show any hunter killer instincts. He does sit at the back door. When I got home this afternoon on my Marin. I asked him in to catch the rat. He just looked at me with a funny look on his face Only got a couple of pics of him on the pc. Heres him trying to help me strip out a bike

So I had put about 10 bikes outside in my yard to get away from the rats. I looked out this morning to move some stuff. I noticed that an Apollo alloy mtb had its seat and post missing. Then looked and a shopper bike was missing its post and seat. Then seen my goldbikes seat and post was missing too. It had an LED on it too. The post was a Kalloy alloy one, think it cost me £15. The mikro bike was at the front. Its seat is in nice condition. And it has a QR lever on the frame. Same with my Puegeot Hybrid. Its seat was still on. So rats are getting to my bikes, one way or another. I had 2 police women out this afternoon. Very arresting women. Dont think they'll do much. They didnt seem to keen on me having so many bikes I put 30 wheels up in the loft this morning. Will move some old chairs and stuff and put my all my bikes up there too. will take a while to do that though.

They didnt seem to keen on me having so many bikes why? did they suspect you nicked em? a mate of mine got stitched up buying an old kona (turned out to be nicked) the police came round and took all his bikes untill he could proove he owned them with receipts.. (they can do this ) he obviously cant proove ownership with receipt for a mid 80s gt , some early konas , 2 burners (one of which was my old mint black mk2) and my old 78 grifter and god knows how many others.... inc a new bmx he bought brandnew. but didnt think he'd need the reciept as he swapped everything for aftermarket bits anyway...... needless to say he didnt see any of the bikes again

A few of my bikes I found abandoned and then put into Police lost property. My Cascade Ascender. I found that on a building site across from the police station in town. I put it in lost property and got it back 3 months after. I had to build another hub into the rear wheel. And change the cranks as theyed put 2 left pedals in there. The grips are hard plastic and the rats dont seem interested, so its still in the garage. My first suspension MTB was one of those, a few years ago. Just a cheap supermarket bike. But ok. Heres a BMX that I found in the river and put into lost property too. I was outside stripping the grip shifts off the 10 or so bikes I had put outside. So the rats dont have anything to eat. I was meaning to work out there till 9pm. As Ive noticed the kids wandering about and kicking my door and others bins at that times. A freind that I had sold a Scott MTB too came to my house. The Scott and a new MTB that hed got for £250 in june, had been stolen that same day. Hes got a Mk2 Chopper and a Grifter in his shed. But think his kids had just parked the bikes in his yard so the theives came and took them. He wasnt happy. Said he had looked at the foreign workers house. As hed been told they were dodgy. He had a baseball bat in his car.

I was out in my yard the other day. Found 2 dead rats. So kicked them across the yard and burried them in the soil. Spilled water from my water butt onto my spade after. As Ive heard you can get viles disease, from them. My sister got me a packet of rat poison. I havent gort round to putting it down as I thought that might be all the rats. But I saw the hole under the back door is open again. So looks like there still there.
