Got a phonecall yesterday morning with jaz saying she had been rear ended on her bike on the way to work I picked her up on the schoolrun and took her home. It wasn't far from home so I walked up and pushed it back. Got home and assessed the damage. Smashed rear light, broken mudguard extension, numberplate, L plate. Insurance wanted to get it assessed so we took it along to a bike garage and they reckon it'll be a write off I managed to get a rear light on ebay for a tenner, mudguard extension from dealers for £14, numberplate £12 and reused the old L plate Got it all together tonight and realised that the rear light is missing the mounting and suzuki don't sell it seperate ( £ 90 complete ! ) So I've bodged the mounting with galvanised band and a cable tie. I posted on the Van Van forum and the admin on there is going to post a used one for free tomorrow jaz needed the bike tomorrow so it couldn't wait. Insurance said keep receipts and they'll work something out with the bike garage. There's other little bits but nothing to make it unroadworthy. This is how it came home and the bodge that works so far, on the brief 40 mile roundtrip she did to test it tonight melted Richa trousers she only noticed tonight

Insurance companies are scum. They wrote my car off once when it was roadworthy just because the back panel was cracked and their books said that a £400 car to them(about a grand to any buyer on the street) was worth less than the panel. I did'nt care what the panel looked like. So yeah they wrote my car off and then i had to be billed for the mot. Another insurance company kept me on record as having an accident once because i had informed them that some driver had openened his door on my bike even though i didnt even carry the request through and never made a penny. Good to hear Jaz is ok.

Thanks Brett, She was on it first thing this morning, she's a little cautious now and keeps checking her mirrors. I just wanted her back on it as soon as possible so she didn't lose her confidence
