had some vektar mags fitted to my grifter xl - but a terrible thing has happened.... was showing my boy some cool "wheelspins" on some gravel when some slippage occured between the hub and the mag took the hub out, realigned it and stuck it back in but the same slippage happened almost immediately got a couple of pretty radical ideas on how to stop the hub spinning but pretty sure they're doomed to failure so if anyone has any words of wisdom and really appreciate it

you need to fit some form of shim on the other side of the hub between the lock ring and the wheel.

It could be a case of making one from a bit of thin metal. Use the original one as a template and ya done

i did have a go at creating a shim as you suggested but it didn't really go according to plan - had trouble cutting out the correct shape using "tinsnips." another idea i had was to get a bit of wire and coil it up into a sort of spring shape, hoping that it would do the same job and stay put of its own accord. think this will most likely be a case of trial and error.... was going to use a bit of metal coat hanger as my first try will post progress as and when!

here's an update - tentatively it seems to be good news! wapped in some bits of metal to create a sort of shim on one side of the hub as suggested by paul ;D also cut some very slight groves in the plastic mags to fit in these extra few bits of metal to try and stop the hub spinning in the mag took it out for a test ride down the local rec and these bodges seem to be holding up!! went fairly gently but did go fast in top gear and manage some gentle up hill bits. so pleased to see the mags back on my xl here's how things looked when i got home, looks like the hub has tried to spin round a bit but seems to be held by the little bits of metal
