just picked up my latest grifter from a raleigh cycles shop after seeing it for sale in the window, it was being sold for a customer, i thought it was christmas when he told me the asking price, one five zero or nearest offer, i had to ask twice, this is a totally original 1978 blue grifter, one female owner, full raleigh service history, kept indoors most of its life and EXTRAS? ?. deal was done there and then, a quick dash to the hole in the wall and it was mine ;D..... and the extras, an unused speedo, unused ever ready lights, various unused cables, original owners manuel, an unopened bike lock and..... the best bit.... a pair of Duran Duran scarves that once adorned the bike so were being sold with it FANTASTIC .......

Well done Col. The bike looks amazing. Just when you think things like this don't happen anymore. I bet you couldn't get the money out the cash machine quick enough. Did you play it cool in the bike shop as not to alert them how valuable it was. I bet you were doing this when you got outside with it.

what a find - outrageous!! ;D ;D and the extra goodies as well - better than christmas! the sanyo speedo is the same as the one i had fitted to my boyhood grifter which once indicated 40mph going downhill!! think it was a bit generous though...

40 mph. I'd say your legs must of been going so fast that it would have been hard to see them.

wish i had got a pic of it in the window, it looked fantastic against the new bombers and burners (amazing how these old skool names are coming back), i forgot to mention that i paid full asking price, its the least i could do because she didnt really want to part with it but future husband number two talked her into it (good lad) and im a big soft tart at heart but its me smiling now, a real bargain i reckon, its got a few chips in the original paintwork and decals and there is a slight rub mark on the inboard front mud flap but i love it for its honest look and the good ones are getting harder to come by so this is another one saved from destruction ;D
