Also i like to give the inners a few drops of oil just to help it all along , as they have probably never seen oil in their lives.

Well i stripped the bike down to its undies today as the frame is still really grubby and i want this bike to look the cats whiskers !
All the bits are currently in a green box and the frame is sitting on my workmate out in the back garden , and tommorow it will be thoroughly cleaned and polished before being redressed. Then all the bits will be re cleaned and polished if needed before being re attached.
The hope is that by this time tommorow she will be up and re built and ready to show

Well the clean up is in full swing , and im doing well so far , i have managed to lose half the headset bearings, so not so bad , but the frame has been washed three times and rinsed off with clean cool water and then let air dry or rather sun dry as it were. Then it was black t cut twice to remove any marks and other paint traces from encounters with other bikes in its past. And then it was polished , the chain ring and cotter pins refused to come out so i have had to clean around them and i have also managed to ruin one of the cotters with a hammer Now its tea time or coffee for me being a southern softee and then the bits and bobs will be cleaned before being refitted

Now the problem is that if you clean chrome in the full glare of the sun it dazzles you , and to be honest im sick of being dazzled so i have come in for yet another coffee.
The bike so far has had its forks put back in with some new bearings and the cups cleaned and oiled , the headset reset and tightened, the new twist grip put back on it from my £3 donor bike , the brake levers are back on and i have put the wheels back on to stop the forks scraping on the ground.
Its getting there , i just wish i could do this for a living !!!!

Its almost done , the back brake cable again stressed me out as it a bad design , going through the frame and all that , but its all back together and its just the wheels need doing and new redlines added and the gear cable fed through the frame again and then its done and it can come indoors where all the other nice bikes go , the crap goes in the garden and the riders go in the shed.

The bike has spent quite some time in the house now , but is very nearly done , its original but needs the wheels cleaning , the left handlegrip replacing or the right one not sure which way to go as of yet and the gears reconnecting then once the new redlines that i bought for it are fitted it will look great , compared to the scrap commando that will accompany it to shows.
